2025 AFC Championship – The Betting Favorites

It is practically a three way tie for the top odds to win the AFC. And it is the same three teams that it has been for a while, the Buffalo Bills at +350, the Baltimore Ravens at +350 as well, and the Kansas City Chiefs at +370 odds.

The Buffalo Bills have experienced maybe more heartbreak than any other franchise has in sports. Whether it is four straight Super Bowls, the 13 second drive, or just constantly losing to the Chiefs. The Bills have everything that you need to win a Super Bowl, an MVP caliber quarterback, good coaching staff, and a good defense. This might be the year that they finally get over the hump and come out of the AFC. There are a lot of question marks surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs after getting trounced in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, and not knowing whether or not we are going to see the same level of Chiefs that we have grown accustomed to. Josh Allen is coming off of winning his first career MVP and is looking to add to his trophy case. This is the time for them to strike, the Bills should come out of their division with ease and it is going to set themselves up well to make the AFC go through Buffalo.

A tough week one matchup against the Baltimore Ravens is going to have big implications for a tie breaker down the stretch of the season when determining who gets the number one seed. And once the playoffs begin the Buffalo Bills are going to be one of the most experienced teams in the field and are going to try and kill this stigma that they cannot beat the Chiefs.

The Baltimore Ravens are tied with the Bills for the best odds to win the AFC and they have proved that they deserve to be up there. The Ravens and Lamar Jackson are coming off of a 12-5 season and also winning the AFC North, but they want more. They have a head coach in John Harbaugh who has already brought a Super Bowl home to Baltimore but that was a long time ago and now there are many questions surrounding this team now whether or not they group can get it done.

Under a Lamar Jackson run offense, the Ravens have made it to the AFC Championship once and have gotten bounced out of the playoffs every year. Now you can make the similar argument for the Bills but the difference is the quarterback play. Josh Allen has risen to the occasion every big playoff game and moment. The losses that the Bills have experienced have not been because of their quarterback, Allen has always done his part. On the other hand Jackson has not done this and his play has directly affected his teams playoff success.

And the final team of the top three favorites is the team who has been to the AFC Championship game 7 straight years, and has won 5 of them including 3 straight. That of course being the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have been the NFLs mountain top for the past years and they could very well do it once again. But this team just does not look the same as they have in years past.

After getting beat so badly in the Super Bowl many questions started to surround this team and had many people wondering, is this the end of the dynasty for Kansas City. With an aging Travis Kelce who looked like a shell of himself in the big game, and a depleted offensive line with losing Joe Thuney to free agency. There is a lot to question with this Chiefs team. But you cannot count them out when they have Patrick Mahomes under center who is getting Rashee Rice back after a brutal injury last season. Also having one of the best defensive coordinators in the league in Steve Spagnuolo who can draw up any kind of scheme imaginable. The Chiefs will be right there and can just turn it up during the postseason and make another run.

Longshot

A team that I think can be very interesting coming into this upcoming NFL season and could be a dark horse to come out of the AFC is the Houston Texans at +1900 odds. This team, believe it or not, reminds me a lot of the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles. They have a young promising dual threat quarterback in C.J. Stroud, who is coming into his third season, both have a top rated defense with the Texans head coach in DeMeco Ryans being a defensive minded coach, having a very good number one receiver in Nico Collins like the Eagles had with A.J. Brown, and having a good running back in Joe Mixon.

Coming into the 2022 season the Eagles were not really expecting to do all that much, they had come into the season with +1100 odds to win the NFC Championship and surprised everyone with a year 3 coming out party for Jalen Hurts. C.J. Stroud could very well do the exact same thing this season as he has already shown regular season and postseason success for the Texans. But a big factor that could be a play for them is that this Texans defense led by DeMeco Ryans could be a big problem for teams like the Chiefs to deal with.

As we saw in the Super Bowl the Chiefs biggest weakness is their offensive line play and if Ryans can draw up schemes to only send four like the Eagles did and have everyone else drop back in coverage, it could be a recipe for success for the Texans.

2025 AFC Championship Picks and Thoughts

The team out of the three favorites that I believe to come out of the AFC is the Buffalo Bills. This is finally their year to do it and I believe they are going to take advantage of it. They are right where they need to be with the Chiefs starting to fade a bit in the AFC and the Bills led by Josh Allen have a great chance of coming out on top in the AFC.

And the longshot team to really look at is the Houston Texans. The Texans are the clear favorites to win the AFC South and they can be a sneaky team to get a top seed with not a terribly tough schedule. The Texans have a lot going for them this season, and with C.J. Stroud looking to bounce back from a down year last year and nothing would be better than making it to the Super Bowl.
