If this really is the year that “The U’’ is back, then maybe it carries over to the Heisman Trophy as well.
University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward is the current favorite to become the first Hurricane to win the award since 1992 when Geno Torretta took it home.
Ward had a really good season opener where he completed 26 of 35 passes for 385 yards and three touchdowns as the ‘Canes blew out rival Florida, 41-17. That win started “The U’’ is back talk.
According to most sports betting sites, Ward is the Heisman favorite at odds of 7-1.
Here’s a look at the rest of the top 10 favorites for the Heisman via the sportsbooks of Offers.bet.
So, let’s see who has best odds to win Heisman Trophy early in the 2024 NCAA Football season?
Dillon Gabriel, QB, Oregon (15-2)
Almost the current co-favorite, Gabriel got a lot of early talk. In a tough win over Idaho in the opener, he completed 41 of 49 passes for 38- yards and two touchdowns.
Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama (9-1)
Looking to become the fifth Heisman winner since 2000 from Alabama, Milroe threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more in the Crimson Tide’s 63-0 win over Western Kentucky.
Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss (10-1)
If Dart wins the award he would be the first from Ole Miss. He opened the season with a 22-for-27, 418-yard, 5-touchdown performance in a 76-0 rout of Furman.
Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado (11-1)
The only non-QB on the early list, Hunter plays both offense and defense for the Buffs. In the opening-win over North Dakota St. he caught seven passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, he made three tackles.
Carson Beck, QB, Georgia (12-1)
As good as the Bulldogs have been recently, the last Heisman winner was Herschel Walker back in 1982. Beck threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-3 rout of Clemson.
Nico Imaleava, QB, Tennessee (14-1)
The Vols have never had a Heisman Trophy winner, either. In a 68-3 win over Chattanooga, the QB threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns all in the first half.
Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas (16-1)
Ewers completed 20 of 27 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns as the Longhorns routed Colorado St. 52-0 in the season opener. The last Longhorn to win the award was running back Ricky Williams in 1998.
Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU (18-1)
Nussmeier is hoping to become the third LSU QB since 2019 to take home the award following Joe Burrow (2019) and Jayden Daniels (2023). In a loss to Southern Cal, he threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns.
Miller Moss, QB, So. Cal (20-1)
Moss completed 27 of 36 passes for 378 yards and a touchdown in the Trojans come-from-behind win over LSU in the opener.
