The AFC West continues to be Kansas City’s playground, as the Chiefs are once again heavy favorites to win the division. With Patrick Mahomes at the helm, it’s difficult to see any team unseating them. The Chiefs’ combination of offensive firepower, coaching genius from Andy Reid, and a championship pedigree makes them one of the most formidable teams in the NFL. Coming off another deep playoff run in 2023, Kansas City will look to continue its reign over the division and make another push toward the Super Bowl. The Chiefs’ dominance in the West is well-established, and barring any major injuries, it’s hard to imagine them not cruising to another division title.

Los Angeles Chargers have new coach, new life?

The Los Angeles Chargers made headlines this offseason with the hiring of Jim Harbaugh as their new head coach. Harbaugh brings a proven track record of success, having won at every stop in his career—from college to the NFL. While it might take him a year or two to fully implement his system and turn the Chargers into a consistent contender, the team already has the talent to make some noise this season. Quarterback Justin Herbert, entering his fourth season, remains the key to the Chargers’ success. If Herbert can take the next step in his development, Harbaugh could help unlock the potential of this roster.

In addition to Herbert, the Chargers have plenty of offensive weapons, including running back Austin Ekeler and wide receiver Keenan Allen, who will continue to play critical roles. The defense, led by Joey Bosa and Derwin James, has been strong in spurts, but it will need to show more consistency to support the offense. Harbaugh’s influence might not result in immediate dominance, but the Chargers could be a surprise team if everything comes together.

Las Vegas Raiders look to be miles behind Chiefs 

The Las Vegas Raiders are a team in turmoil. After a disappointing 2023 season, the Raiders enter 2024 with more questions than answers, especially at quarterback. The franchise has yet to solidify the position, and the lack of stability there casts a long shadow over the team’s prospects for the season. The roster has several holes, and there are concerns about both the offense and the defense. Without a clear plan at quarterback and numerous deficiencies across the board, it’s hard to see the Raiders making much noise in the AFC West.

Although the Raiders do have some talent—most notably wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive end Maxx Crosby—their roster is far from complete, and the coaching staff will have to do a lot with very little. Las Vegas appears to be in for another long and difficult season, with little hope of contending for a playoff spot in such a competitive division.

Rebuilding Denver Broncos have to hope Nix is the guy

The Denver Broncos enter the 2024 season with renewed optimism after selecting quarterback Bo Nix in the first round of the draft. Nix has the potential to be the franchise quarterback that Denver has been searching for since Peyton Manning retired. However, as promising as Nix may be, he’s still a rookie, and it will likely take time for him to adjust to the NFL level. While the Broncos might not be ready to compete for a Super Bowl this season, they could be on the right track to building a strong future.

The Broncos have a solid defense, led by players like Patrick Surtain II and Randy Gregory, which should keep them competitive in games. However, their offense, despite Nix’s potential, still has work to do, particularly in finding more consistency and developing chemistry. Head coach Sean Payton will have his hands full in trying to turn the team around, but the foundation is there for future success. This season, though, the Broncos are likely a few pieces away from being true contenders in the AFC.
