Sportsbook Regulation in Rhode Island

Rhode Island was one of the early leaders in legalizing sports betting. RI passed S 2045 back in 2018, making it possible to place wagers at the state’s two retail sportsbooks. The law was expanded in 2019 with SB 37 to allow mobile betting at the two Twin River casino sportsbooks. Prospective license-holders are overseen by the Rhode Island Lottery

The problem with Rhode Island’s fledgling sports betting industry has been the need to register in-person at one of the state’s land-based sportsbooks. However, that rule has now been scrapped: you can now register for a sportsbook account at home through your PC or smartphone.

Rhode Island’s sportsbooks practise responsible gambling in accordance with Rhode Island Lottery rules. You can contact a problem gambling helpline in the state at 1-877-9GAMBLE.

Retail Sportsbooks to Visit in Rhode Island

Two commercial casinos (both carrying the Twin River brand) now have retail sportsbooks. Caesars sportsbook is currently the only operating mobile sportsbook that has retail betting available.

Formerly the William Hill Sportsbook, Caesars boasts giant areas (3,600 square feet in Lincoln) at both its sportsbooks. There are over 100 TV screens at both retail sportsbooks showing a range of games covering US sports.
