Sportsbook Bonuses in South Dakota
Currently, South Dakota sportsbooks are only available at retail properties in the state. Deadwood sportsbooks such as Dale’s Sportsbook Bar & Grill at the Mountain Grand offer loyalty rewards to regular customers. However, there’s nothing in the way of free bets or a traditional “welcome bonus” like you’d find at an online sportsbook.
Online Sports Betting in South Dakota
South Dakota now has legal sports betting at casinos in the gambling hub of Deadwood. That’s the good news; the bad news is that online sports betting is still some way away. There are no legal online sportsbooks operating online currently and no mobile apps.
Despite several attempts to broaden South Dakota’s sports betting legislation, online sportsbooks remain a work in progress.

Sportsbook Regulation in South Dakota
South Dakota legalized sports betting in 2020 following a public referendum, but only in person and only at the four casinos in Deadwood. Gov. Kristi Noem signed SB 44 into law. The first legal sports bets were taken in November 2021.
For now, the law relates to betting within the city of Deadwood only. A further bill – SJR 502 – to expand legal sports betting in SD failed to be approved in 2022.
South Dakota does have around a dozen tribal casinos, but these are a way away from Deadwood. Existing gaming compacts would have to be amended if tribal casinos were to start offering sports betting.
Sportsbooks are regulated by the South Dakota Commission on Gaming. The Commission is responsible for overseeing all licensed sportsbooks in Deadwood. It also regulates live horse racing in the state.
